ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Sabine
While she was working in the fashion industry, Sabine was introduced to meditation during a 10-day Vipassana silent retreat taught by S.N Goenka. The experience was life-changing for her and allowed her to discover the importance of mindfulness and the present moment. She deepened her contemplative practice by combining it with Sound Meditation, taking introductory training with Don Coreaux and broadening her knowledge through sound practitioner training at the WOOM Center with Alexandre Tannous and David Shemesh. Since then, she has been practicing, developing her skills, and facilitating meditation for groups and private sessions.
Julie
Julie is a mother, a daughter, a sister and a good friend to many. She is also a biologist, a yoga teacher, a doula, and a shiatsu practitioner. After eight years of experience in academia with a Ph.D in Water Ecology, She took a turn and reinvented herself professionally. She knew deep inside, she was made to teach; either it is about water treatment through constructed wetlands, or body alignment in yoga asana, or the different stages of childbirth, or the effect of the emotions on our subtle body. She uses her scientific mind to deepen her understanding of the ancient knowledge of Yoga and Traditional Chinese Medicine - relationship body/mind/spirit - to raise the healing energy level among us.
Sasha Drey
Sasha is an award winning composer/sound designer, singer and multi-instrumentalist. He has studied shamanic musical instruments and learned Harmonic Overtone singing with Kaigal-ool Khovalyg (Tuvan band Huun Hur Tu). He leads singing workshops at festivals such as JetLAG and Peace Temple and collaborates on projects implementing sound with guided meditation (healing guided sound journey), and sound with movement (Sound and Shiatsu Fusion), and combines traditional overtone singing with reggae dub (ChingisDub).
Kazue Taguchi
Born in Japan, Kazue currently lives and works in New York City. Inspired by stained glass windows in European churches, she explores the ethereal and intangible effects of light and reflection. She was a resident artist at the Museum of Art and Design New York, the Corning Museum of Glass, Pilchuck Glass School, Cité Internationale des Arts Paris, the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, the Newark Museum, and the Vermont Studio Center, among others.
Mieko Takahashi
After graduating from Parsons with a BFA in product design (metal), Mieko Takahashi went on to create jewelry. From there she branched out and discovered her love for food styling and she worked as a pastry chef. As someone who prides herself on taking multiple, everyday objects and creating a beautiful masterpiece, Mieko has the ability to see the big picture with the smallest components. When she’s not making the world a more aesthetically appealing place, Mieko can be found at home in Brooklyn baking and cooking dishes from all over the world, exercising her green thumb, or wandering around Prospect Park and parts of the world looking for inspiration. Mieko is also trained in Ayurvedic massage, facial, and cooking.
